5 of 5 great February 21, 2013

I put this one in the neck of an €piphone Les Paul Special II. Before I had 2 GoldTones I took out of a DeArmond Starfire. I´m a neck-jazz player and the GoldTone (Alnico-V/8.2Ks) proved to be interesting as half PAF neck and filtertron kind of sound, a good pickup itself, heavy on the bass, though. My Classic 50s deluxe is far away a no-brain pup, it´s got so many ways just by the twist of an eq knob... a brilliant versatile and very special pickup.  I play weekly in front of public and have the impression of having them all in my pocket each time. As it will stay in the €pi-LP, Craig said to me it was also suitable for hollow bodies, so it´s having all the numbers to go in the neck of my €pi 65 Sorrento. Not just Wes´s sound. With it´s 7.2K you can drive it near Larry Carlton very well and be happy everytime you think of a chance of playing such a good guitar sound.

5 of 5 What a transformation February 21, 2013
Reviewer: Philip Sharples from Burnley, Lancashire United Kingdom
Just thought I'd let you know that my order arrived on Tuesday and within 30 minutes of arriving home the pickups were safely installed in my PRS SE245.

What a transformation! Not only do the nickel covers beat the stock zebra pickups on looks - nothing compares with the singlecut/covered pickup combination - but sonically the Classic 50s Deluxe pickups are on another planet. Warm yet with wonderful clarity and a touch of bite (especially on the bridge). Great sustain and surprisingly loud (considering their resistance is considerably lower than the stock pickups). Find of the century - it won't be my last order.

In brief, the Knee Jerks are very good, but the Classic 50’s is nothing short of SUPERB!!, my copy 58 Black Beauty with the Classic in the middle sounds very much like the real thing-(I have owned one way back in the 70’s) very very close to the PAF, warm deep and powerful.

I fitted the pickups to a" real Les Paul"....replacing the whole harness with replica vintage correct parts.....and replacing the vintage PAFs with your pickups...putting the entire vintage array in storage to prevent moisture getting in...as I do actually gig this guitar!...I ordered the Top's seperate as I wanted to "age" and "dimple" them, and also to change the mag in the front pickup for a vintage alnico out of a 1955 P90 which I've had for some 30 years.........Although I've modded one of your pickups,I did try them both in the guitar unaltered before I went ahead and "did my thing" with the front pup....They are magnificent pups, non of that wooliness in the front pickup, and the bridge pup has a clarity and bite....with a nice fatness, without being "middlely"....you do not need "perceived power" in order to get an authentic PAF tone....these do it all.
The only niggley bit is the Bridge pup is 52mm pole spacing and I had to modify a top to fit. This measurement is NOT vintage correct ,and should be spot on 50mm!....the poles overhang a little but in truth, you only notice if you're looking and I can't perceive any drop in tone or volume.

5 of 5 Classic 50s bridge December 18, 2012
Reviewer: steve stroud from liverpool, merseyside United Kingdom
After speaking with the guys at axerus about my humbucker needs, they were very friendly and helpful btw, I took their advice and ordered the classic 50.
I fitted the classic 50s deluxe humbucker to the bridge of my strat.
I couldn't be happier, lovely open sounding bridge humbucker, handles cleans, crunch and leads with ease.
It's not 'chewy' so I think it works as an accompaniment to single coils well.
Braided wire, buckle covers make for a high quality feel.
As always axesrus deliver at lightening quick speed and at a very reasonable price.
They're the nearest thing to Warmoth we have in the UK.
10/10.

5 of 5 Classic 50s December 17, 2012

I was very pleased with the pickups. I put them on a PRS Tremonti SE single cut on which I had already removed the original SE pickups and fitted a genuine PRS Mcarty and a genuine PRS Dragon pickup. I first tried the Axesrus pickups bypassing the guitar's tone and volume controls and they sounded very good. They each had a wide tonal range and sounded as they should according to the position they were in on the guitar. They still sound good now that the tone and volume controls are connected. I still have all the other pickups but I see no reason to switch back to any of them. Your pickups are incredibly good value for money. I like the simplicity of their wiring. I don't know it the braided shielding contributes to the sound or not (I find modern shielded wire easier to use) but if the authentic braided cable is what it takes to get the sound then you have got it. Well done. I also think there is a lot of hype about 'boutique' pickups. You are proving that you can supply a quality pickup with no frills at a sensible price. You can imagine what I paid for the genuine PRS pickups!

For the money the classic 50s deluxe is wonderful.  I have a drawer full of humbuckers, gathered over the years from stripping and refitting Les Pauls of various makes and qualities.  None of them did what I like for my own guitar.  I wanted a softer, rounder vintage sound for the bridge in a modern LP. I looked all over the net and considered genuine old Gibson and D'Marzios etc, but they were too pricey.  I thought I'd take the risk of one more cheap pickup.  Having bought other stuff from Axesrus I thought I'd give the pups a try, not expecting too much for 32 quid. But I was most impressed with the classic 50s and will certainly buy more when the need arises.  Braided wire instantly pleased me when I opened the packet (most modern pups have s****y thin wire!) - basically they look like Gibson PAFs from the 70s to me, barre the transfer on the back.  And the sound was close to what I need.  Not brutal and heavy metal, but softer classic rock/blues. A perfect 32 quid pup.

Cheers.
