These are, officially, a "Extended Range, Fan Fret, Slanted Humbucker Base" - which, as well as being a bit of a mouthful, because they turn up on fan frets that aren't extended range, and, presumably, turn up on extended range guitars that aren't fan fret!... but you get the idea.Essentially, these things turn "normal" humbuckers into slated humbuckers, which turn up on those wonderfully wacky guitars, purely to keep the pickup "where it should be" in relation to the string/its vibration.
Magnetic spacers are a novel little idea, and turn up sporadically on production pickups every so often. Essentially, they replace the inert maple or plastic spacers either side of a Humbuckers poles to alter the tone, usually by making a pickup more aggressive.
