Why Juan?... Why Not? The best of both worlds

When we were designing the original Juan mod pickguard, we figured "Its a great idea, it gives you plenty of options electrically, but could it do a bit more?" - so it only seemed right that we make a HSS version too - so here it is.

Taking inspiration more from a standard Fat Strat® pickguard then the Last Waltz model, but bringing some of Robbie Robertsons ideas to the table. Rather then having a "normal" pickup in the bridge, its actually 2 single coil routes merged together - and you can treat this pickup as either a humbucker (wiring it in series) or as a pair of single coils (wires in parallel) or whatever else you can dream up with it.

But the Deluxe version of the Juan has one massive advantage - it allows you do keep a more traditional position 2 tone - combining one of the bridge pickups coils with the normal middle!

Either way, whichever way you want to go with it, it gives you plenty of option electrically, and as such, the opportunity to a whole new world of tones.

The plate itself is made for a 3 ply laminate of PVC, purely because it’s the best material for the job. Whilst it’s true to say that various other plastics have been used, most had their draw backs sadly – fine for historical accuracy, but a bit of a pig in day to day life. PVC is heat resistant to avoid warping, its colour fast, so will never change colour as it ages (although, as with most things, it’ll still nicotine stain, it’ll still bleach in the sun if you leave it there for a few weeks!).

So all in all, if you’re looking for a modern spec plate for your Strat® that'll let you do some crazy things with that combo bridge/middle routing, then chances are this is the one you want.

Why name it the Juan mod though? - that one, we're keeping secret!
