Description Technical Specs

The Hipshot US Contour bridge is unlike any tremolo system out there. Hardened steel pivot pins inserted into a machined brass top plate give the US Contour a bell like tonal quality and silky smooth whammy action! Coupled with a solid machined steel tremolo block, the US Contour can achieve tremendous sustain and volume. Best of all, it is designed to retrofit any guitar using the American Standard tremolo routing convention. No additional routing required.

  • Adjustable tension press in tremolo arm
  • Stainless steel saddles
  • High quality springs

5 of 5 An excellent upgrade to any USA Strat or similar February 14, 2020

What isn't too obvious is that the kit includes adaptor bushes so you can fit this to an American Strat without having to pull out the stud wells.

Also, the treble-side stud is a different profile to the bass side stud and isn't interchangeable. The treble one is isolated in its own part of the bag with "treble" written on it, so it should be blindingly obvious!

Fitted my 2011 American Deluxe Strat with no bother at all - far superior to the standard unit in every way. Can highly recommend both this unit and the service from Axesrus.

A few comments after the bridge has been installed on the guitar. First of all, it looks incredibly classy (although I'd really like to have a white knob on my arm to match the rest of the plastics on my Strat - do you happen to sell replacement arms?). Now, let's talk performance. I don't know how or why, but it gave me at least 50% more sustain than I ever had. Even acoustically, the guitar (a 1992 American Standard Stratocaster) seems to ring louder and longer, with a more even tone. Plugged in, it's exactly the same story. Regarding its feel now, compared to a Wilkinson VS100 my technician had installed on an identical Strat, your unit's geometry seems to require a bit more arm travel in order to divebomb; personally, I like that, because it gives me more control for arm-aided vibrato. Its tuning stability is excellent. Tonally, the Wilkinson was blown out of the water (it sounded shrill in comparison to the Hipshot) and the Fender American Standard trem was put to shame for being nothing but a tinny-sounding, cheap piece of trash that does nothing to keep the guitar in tune. I know I'm certainly going to recommend your unit to any other Strat owner that wishes to upgrade to a proper vibrato.
