This is a Chrome plated, brass cover, in the style of (one of the many!) an "S Grill Gold foil" pickup. Very shallow, and seemingly, a very old fashioned design - its a specialist piece for a specialist winder!

They seemingly turned up on a lot of DeArmond guitars in the 60s if thats worth anything - but i cant say i know a great deal of the history of this sort of pickup.

Between you, me and the fence post, i pride myself on knowing a lot about how pickups work, and how their constructed - but, honestly? I've not the faintest idea of how Gold foils are actually built - I've seen some old photos of them after they've fallen apart, and I've a vague idea of whats going on, but really? Its all a bit of a mystery as far as i'm concerned.

Seemingly, whilst pickups in this style/shape/size do exist historically, there are dozens of different variations on the theme, so even though this is obviously designed to be a "historic" pickup, go in eyes open. It might only be historic so far, and there are likely to be differences when compared to the originals.
