Pickguard suitable for Fender ® Jazzmaster ®
Introduced in 1958, the Fender® Jazzmaster® exhibited a larger body than previous models, and featured the ‘offset waist’ designed for comfort when playing whilst seated.
The pickguard has a thirteen hole mounting pattern, with further screw holes for the “rythmn control” pot and switch mounting. Originally offered in four ply brown tortoise shell, we offer a range of colours in three and four ply for completeness sake.
You will notice that this pickguard has been designed to accommodate two humbuckers rather than the Jazzmaster® pickups it would have originally had, this is to allow you more creative control, as the original wide ‘soapbar’ Jazzmaster® pickups may not be for you. As always, it is worth checking our technical specifications to make sure this pickguard will fit your guitar.
Initially the Fender® Jazzmaster® was targeted toward your Jazz and Blues musicians. Never having found favour with this demographic, nonetheless it proved popular with rock and ‘surf rock’ guitarists.
Falling out of style in the seventies with the growing popularity of the Gibson Les Paul®, Fender® continued production of the Jazzmaster® until 1980.
More recently the Fender® Jazzmaster® has found a cult following within the indie rock scene.
Reissues since 1980 have been numerous, and include the 1999 ‘American Vintage Series’ Jazzmaster® and the 2007 ‘thin skin’ Jazzmaster® with nitrocellulose finish.
