Description Technical Specs
The Knee Jerk humbucker represents an affordable solution for anyone looking for that classic PAF sound, but who just can’t justify the expensive historical recreations.

Harking back to a simpler time, these really are a no nonsense pickups. Both neck and bridge up at the same resistance up in that sweet spot between 7k and 8k, they’ll take whatever you can throw at them, from pop through to hard rock and every thing in between.

They’re built around a slightly weakened Alnico 2 bar magnet, lending the setup a sweet, almost spongy tone, with a pronounced top end. They’re ideally suited to rhythm work, but with plenty of bite in the top end. Just enough so they hold their own when needed for riffs or solos.

There’s no coil tap option with these pickups, so we’ve been able to use the classic braided metal wire seen on so many iconic pickups through the years.

All in all, these pickups are a great big nod to that cherished 50s humbucker tone.

Superb detailed pickups! August 18, 2015

I bought these Knee Jerk basics for a golt top project and I wanted AlNiCo II tones as it was mainly for rhythm work.
These fit the bill near perfectly, tidy bass end on cleans with enough mid and top to get some clean sparkle without being 'shouty'.
Slightly driven straight into a Laney valve amp I'm getting the same unfluffy tidy bottom end range and a nice solid crunch, great for rock/hard rock rhythm.
high gain is where these fall slightly, they seem to lost a little top end bite, but not enough to dissuade you from hot leads and biting riffages.
If only they came spaced 50mm in the neck position, the lower AlNiCo II magnets don't really have the pull to pickup the high E and B strings.

Built really well, no noise at all and metal braided cable, superb quality.

Perfectly good, easy to fit and a bargain June 26, 2015

I wanted some comparatively low output humbuckers with braided leads as I can't see the thinner type of lead anymore without spotlights and magnifying glasses... These caught my eye as I was looking for something else so bought a neck and bridge Knee Jerk on impulse really. For 'only' a pair of 'cheap' pickups being sold off as bargain basement items I'm very happy with them. Quite honestly I'd be no happier if they were name branded and 3 or 4 times dearer.
