Ferrules are a fairly basic piece of hardware once you look into them; they are simply small metal “cups” which hold the ball end of the string in place as it is fed through the back of the guitar. The advantages compared to a “string though top” setup are pretty wide ranging, but the main attraction is that they allow the strings movement to resonate more efficiently through the wood of the guitars body, giving a much more honest tone to the sound, really emphasising that classic Tele® snap and twang that has proven so popular in recent decades.

We use a cast steel to produce these ferrules, making them fairly hard compared to some of the cheaper zinc models on the market, this means that the string will never damage your ferrules, and the dense nature means you’ll hear a slightly brighter tone overall, with a little more sustain, in a similar way to a steel block working on the higher end Fender ® Stratocaster®

As we always try to do with our own brand parts, we’ve produced them in a much wider range of colours then many other manufacturers, giving you a greater level of customisation on your guitar.

This style of string ferrule has been used on Fender® Telecaster ®, almost exclusively since the 1950s and whilst these are not the original model, they would be an ideal replacement, produced to the same high quality as to not look out of place even on the highest end guitar.

Originally, the Ferrules where fitted into small “recessed” holes on the back of the Tele® so the lipped edge sat flush with the back of the guitar – this setup ran from 1950, on the very first models, right through until 1966.

From 1966 until 1984, the ferrules where no longer fitted into a recess, just a small hole, with the lip actually sitting proud – thankfully the part didn’t actually change, but the way it was fitted did, so its worth bearing in mind if you’re dealing with guitars from this period, or historic re-issues emulating them, that this is the case.

After 1984, with the emphasis back on “the good old days” the recessed holes were re-introduced.

It’s also worth considering that although these are the most common form of ferrule in use on most string through body guitars, there are exceptions.

These ferrules are designed to fit Fender ® Guitars including the Telecaster ®, Esquire® and Nashville ® as well as some models fitted with hard tail bridges such as the Stratocaster®, but please note, these are not official Fender ® parts.

Fender ® Stratocaster ® Telecaster® and Tele® are registered trademarks of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation and Axesrus ® has no affiliation with FMIC
