This is one of the control plates you will need for the Fender® Jaguar®. Fulfilling a purely functional role in the grand scheme of things, it is simply there to provide mounting for the volume and tone controls as well as the jack socket.

As dull as the job of a control plate may be, the sheer abundance of them on the Fender® and Squier® Jaguar® guitars certainly brings an element of “class” to proceedings.

So with that in mind, we’ve had these plates made out of steel, purely to give them a nice weight, and had them electroplated immaculately in a beautiful thick chrome.

It’s worth nothing with the Jaguar® and others from the Offset Series there is some variation when it comes to how the control plates actually fit against the pickguard. It seems to be that those Jaguars® first issued between 1962 through to the mid 70s were a little “rough and ready” when it came to how the parts sat; issues with gaps between pickguard and plates, edges not aligning as expected and screw holes in different places, were commonplace.

As the guitars became a little more popular, these teething problems were addressed, though not completely eradicated, with guitars from as late as 1975 displaying the same issues. We can’t really say for certain what caused these irregularities, but it’s worth bearing in mind that it’s not really a problem, better to think of it as a design choice made at the time.

Most reissues and modern versions don’t seem to suffer, but be warned, if you’re working on a 1962 re-issue, there is a chance that those gaps and “mistakes” are actually intentional nods back to the originals, rather than a sign of poor workmanship.

Beyond that, it’s all very much straight shooting, with little or no variation between control plates themselves, as this is more of an issue with pickguards than anything else.

Please be aware these are not official Fender® parts.
