When designing the “TTLD” our aim was to capture the aggression and rich low mid-range that we‘ve come to expect from the Laudanum, and cage it in within the confines of a single coil sized humbucker. This resulted in a mini beast of a rock and metal pick-up. This little monster thinks its ten feet tall!

We found that the TTLD retains all of the high response articulation, bite, and searing qualities of the TT73, whilst boasting a significantly meatier bottom end and low mid-range that still tracks as fast as anything and stays tight under extreme levels of saturation. This is largely due to the inclusion of our favoured Alnico 3 (III) magnet. We just love that extra bit of dirt in the lower register that lends itself so well to more modern heavy guitar sounds.

Wound at 13k, the TTLD distorts early, with more than enough output for today’s modern standards of pure square wave rectification in distortion. This is aided somewhat by the more apparent levels of natural compression that we’ve come to expect when working with smaller sized humbuckers.

One thing that we were really pleased with when testing the TTLD was how it responded to lead work in the neck. It was a concern that the extra focus in the low end may cause muddiness when used in this position, but the results of our testing and recording sessions proved to be on the contrary. The extra richness between 100-600 Hz gives the TTLD a mean, throaty attack and an evenly balanced fluidic tone. The TTLD really has a beautiful, rich and distinctive voicing offering up a real versatility to give you some fantastic results in both bridge and neck positions.

5 of 5 Packs a punch February 25, 2021

Dropped it straight into the bridge position as a replacement for a brittle sounding single coil (I didn't even change the tone pot) and my guitar has been transformed . For hard rock & metal there's plenty of 'chug & squeal'  but it still sounds rich and responds well on the clean channel. A really good value alternative to spending 'Seymour Duncan money' for a Hot Rails.

Guitar: Self built 'Strat'.
Wiring: Master volume pot (250K log), single tone pot (250K Linear), TT-LD configured as humbucker.

just fitted 3 of these to a friends parts caster & was surprised how 'stratty' they sound unlike some hot rail pickups i have fitted in the past - great sounds in both single coil & humbucjer mode - very impressed indeed !
